Epping · City of Whittlesea

A new community taking shape in Cooper Street West.

One of Melbourne's north's biggest future precincts — around 1,088 hectares wedged between the Hume Freeway and Merri Creek at Epping, 20km north of the Melbourne CBD. The long-term plan points to new homes, a local town centre, schools and a green-spine parkland network. Dwelling numbers will be set by the future precinct structure plan.

The approved planning picture

A long-term precinct, identified and ready for planning.

Cooper Street West is named in Victoria's 10-year plan for Melbourne's greenfields as a Horizon 3 precinct — unprogrammed, with structure planning expected in 2029/30–2033/34. The City of Whittlesea adopted a Cooper Street West position paper back in 2017.

Today the surrounds are jobs-rich — the Cooper Street employment corridor, the Melbourne Wholesale Market precinct and Pacific Epping are all on the doorstep. The homes story is the long game, and every number here waits on the future PSP.
